Matthew P. Rotan
Additionally, Matt has frequently been asked to speak as an expert on the Houston and Texas Apartment Markets.
For over 20 years, David has been integrally involved in the marketing process on all of the properties represented by his office from the preparation of Opinion of Values and final packaging to contracting and closing. Through being personally involved in the sale of over $5 billion of multi-family properties, he has the experience and execution skills to successfully orchestrate any multifamily transaction.
David also serves on the Board of Directors of Apartment Life (www.apartmentlife.org), a 501C3 corporation committed to enhancing the lives of residents in over 300 apartment communities across the nation by connecting residents to one another through the CARES program. He is also active in other non-profit organizations such as The College of Biblical Studies, The Brookwood Community, Yellowstone Academy, and Second Baptist Church. David has been married to his wife Rosanne for 20 years and has three children David Hill, Kendall and Sam. David holds a BBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin.
Cliff has successfully worked with a variety of clients including insurance companies, banks, savings and loans and syndicators. He has made it a principle cornerstone of his brokerage business to acquire a broad knowledge of his client's history and current needs and to maintain an extensive knowledge of the apartment market and financial and equity market.
Prior to joining ARA, David was a manager in the Corporate Finance/Capital Markets Group of a large corporation where he was involved in the financial analysis, due diligence and financing negotiations. David also spent time in the Restructuring Group which was responsible for restructuring and managing a $600 million private equity portfolio. Before attending graduate school, David spent two years at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. and Harris, Webb & Garrison, a regional investment banking firm.
David received his BA and MBA from The University of Texas at Austin and is currently on the Associate Council of the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at The University of Texas. David also serves on the business development board at the Bank of Houston and serves on the steering committee for the Leaders of Tomorrow at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
The Private Client Services Group focuses on properties built prior to 1990 in the Houston MSA. Since inception ARA Houston has been involved in over $8.5 billion of multifamily transactions of this kind.
Prior to joining ARA, Russell was a Senior Associate at a national brokerage company where he focused on new client development, financial underwriting, marketing and escrow management for multifamily transactions.
Tim graduated from Texas A & M.
David was previously with a consulting firm that was formerly part of Arthur Andersen. David provided support in corporate real estate consulting services, financial valuation services, and tax consulting depreciation and cost recovery services. His real estate consulting and valuation assignments have been located throughout the United States with extensive work in the Houston, New York, and California markets. He has also engaged in due diligence for multiple multi-billion dollar portfolio acquisitions and dispositions. David possesses a BBA in Finance from Baylor University.

Matthew P. Rotan, principal and co-founder of Apartment Realty Advisors has been involved in the multi-family industry since 1989. Matt's responsibilities include hands-on interaction with all assignments taken on by ARA, as well as being in contact with equity sources and maintaining investment bank and lender relationships. In addition to day-to-day consulting and brokerage services, Matt is responsible for developing new business opportunities whether brokerage or advisory services, in Texas or across the United States. Matt oversees and helps develop national multi-family market information, which helps to differentiate us from other investment companies.
David has been in the multi-family investment business since 1986 and has received nationwide recognition for his performance in the apartment market both in Houston and throughout the United States. David has direct responsibility for the pricing and marketing strategies of the multi-family assignments in Houston, Austin/San Antonio and in the Secondary Markets segment of the ARA Houston team. He currently leads a team of over 30 full-time professionals.
Clifford P. McDaniel serves as a principal of this central region office of ARA. His duties include brokerage, client development, and staff organization. He is also responsible for the development and implementation of the network software, which provides the precise market knowledge and responsiveness, which are key factors in our success. One of Cliff's most noted accomplishments was being recognized as the leading apartment broker for Resolution Trust Corporation, selling more multi-family properties than any other broker in the United States. This allowed him to conduct nationwide marketing campaigns and helped him earn a reputation as a leading national broker.
David Mitchell, Principal, oversees all aspects of the transaction process from valuation, marketing and client contact, due diligence, negotiations of the purchase and sale agreement through deal funding. David is also involved in client development and debt/equity sourcing. He has been directly involved in approximately $1.5 billion in multifamily transactions since joining ARA.
David C. Wylie, Principal, directs his attention toward the development and production of new business. Utilizing his Business degree from the University of Texas, Mr. Wylie contributes to client development, sourcing of new buyers, and pricing strategies of the multifamily assignments taken on by ARA. Through his involvement in the sale of over $1.5 billion of multifamily properties with ARA, Mr. Wylie has the skills necessary to orchestrate successful multifamily transactions.
Russell D. Jones, Vice President, manages the newly formed Private Client Services Group (PCSG) in Houston and handles all aspects of the marketing process taken on by the PCSG, including client development, pricing strategies, valuation/ modeling, marketing, as well as negotiation and closing of transactions.
Timothy Dosch, Vice President, brings a heightened level of urban-redevelopment, land sales and corporate relocation expertise that elevates and expands service delivery to clients. Prior to joining ARA, Tim worked as a member of a commercial brokerage company's land sales services team. In 2006, he was involved in more than $100 million in transactions and managed approximately 175 listings.
Marketing Director, leads the Marketing Team and possesses a well-rounded real estate background coupled with graphic design expertise. Ms. Endo's experience consists of multifamily and office investment sales, office tenant representation, multifamily leasing, commercial property management, and retail development. Her responsibilities include: the structuring and implementation of marketing strategies, in-house design and production of multimedia presentations, offering documents, newsletters and brochures, as well as acting as a liaison between the principals and their clients. Ms. Endo graduated from San Diego State University.
Marketing Specialist, brings over 10 years of marketing experience to the ARA team. She has worked in the construction and oil and gas industries where she gained knowledge of the proposal process and furthered her graphic design expertise. Ms. Ahow is responsible for compiling and producing in-house offering documents, designing brochures and implementing marketing initiatives for the firm. Ms. Ahow has a BFA in Graphic Design and MBA with emphasis in Marketing from the University of Tulsa.
Natalie Bechtol,
Marketing Specialist, joined ARA after graduating from the University of Texas with a BBA in Finance and a concentration in Real Estate. Ms. Bechtol is responsible for the implementation of marketing strategies and in-house production of marketing materials including offering memorandums and investment flyers. Over the last year Ms. Bechtol has focused much of her time marketing three multifamily portfolio listings for ARA.
Carolyn Kipper, Marketing Specialist, joined ARA after graduating from the University of Houston with a BBA in Marketing. During college, Ms. Kayes worked as a commercial property and liability insurance agent, where she gained knowledge of policy implementation, due diligence, and the underwriting process. She is currently responsible for compiling and producing in-house offering documents, designing brochures, and implementing marketing initiatives for the firm.
Matt Tindall, Marketing Specialist, directs his attention toward the development of marketing strategies and in-house production of marketing materials including proposals and collateral materials. He also manages the production, marketing timelines and schedules of various projects, while assisting with the implementation of marketing initiatives.
Prior to his association with ARA, Mr. Tindall spent several years in the public sector as an Operations & Marketing Coordinator. With his extensive background and experience working in design and engineering studios, he really knows how to roll up his sleeves and produce winning marketing programs. Mr. Tindall holds a Bachelor of Arts in Design from Texas State University.
David Marshall, Vice President, brings a vast knowledge of experience from working three years in the multifamily investment sales side of the business to ARA’s land brokerage team. David specializes in urban-redevelopment and land sales for all buyer and seller types.
Christopher Leavitt, Transaction Manager, graduated with a BA from the University of Texas at Austin and with a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. Chris assists in all aspects of the transaction process - from valuation of the asset to implementing and coordinating the marketing effort, negotiation of the purchase and sale agreement, and the due diligence process through closing. Chris also is involved in new client development. Mr. Leavitt is a licensed Texas attorney.
David Whitby, Analyst, obtained his BBA in Finance from McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Whitby is responsible for market research, underwriting, and the financial analysis of ARA projects.
Keith Colquitt, Analyst, obtained his BBA in Finance from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. He is responsible for the underwriting, market research, and financial analysis of ARA projects.
Zach Springer, Analyst, graduated with a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Springer spent over a year with a national homebuilder as a Land Acquisition Analyst before joining ARA. He is responsible for the underwriting, market research, and financial analysis of ARA projects.
David W. Stockton, Controller, focuses his time maintaining the financial, personnel, and general corporate responsibilities for ARA. His duties provide detailed support for the overlying business in which ARA is involved. Mr. Stockton joined ARA in March 2004 after two years as an auditor with KPMG. While at KPMG, Mr. Stockton spent his time examining in depth accounting practices of various companies as well as studying other general business practices of clients. Mr. Stockton also has experience as an investment analyst at an equity trading hedge fund as well as analyst experience at GE Capital Real Estate. His work experience is complimented with an accounting degree from the University of Baylor.
Courtney Moore, Office Manager, joined ARA after graduating from George Mason University with a BS in Human Resources and Management Information Systems. Ms. Moore’s prior work experience involved project facilitation, event planning, and bookkeeping. As part of the ARA team, her responsibilities include the distribution of sales packages, maintenance of client databases, and daily administration of office operations.
Samantha Richardson, Executive Assistant, joined ARA after graduating from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston with a BA in Marketing. Ms. Richardson’s previous work experience involved accounting, financial planning, and administrative services. She currently assists principals Matthew Rotan and David Oelfke.
Shannon Blair, Administrative Assistant, helps facilitate multiple projects and assist clients throughout different stages of processing. Shannon came to ARA with prior experience in office management, customer service and residential leasing. She is currently completing her BBA with a concentration in Management from the University of Houston.
