JEFFREY L. HAWKS
Mr. Hunt joined Apartment Realty Advisors in 2004 as Principal where he has been consistently one of Denver’s top multifamily brokers, handling over $500 million in multifamily transactions. Mr. Hunt has extensive experience in all types of multifamily properties, including government subsidized housing, low income housing tax credits, condominium conversions and senior housing.
Prior to joining Apartment Realty Advisors, Shane was employed as a stock broker with Morgan Keegan, Inc., and as a financial advisor with Prudential Securities in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Ozment has over fifteen years experience in securities and investment sales. He received his Bachelors Degree in Marketing and Business Administration from the University of the Ozarks and his Masters Degree in Finance from the University of Colorado.
A native of Colorado, Kevin enjoys skiing, mountain biking, fly fishing, and traveling the world with his wife Tracy.
His background includes working as a construction superintendent for a national homebuilding firm. Chris graduated from the University of Denver with a combined Business degree in Real Estate and Construction Management with an emphasis in Statistics.
Ray is a graduate of the University Of Denver School Of Law and has a Masters Degree in Real Estate and Construction Management from the Burns School of Real Estate at the University of Denver. Ray is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois and Colorado, and holds a Series 22 securities license.

Jeff Hawks is a 33-year veteran of the real estate business, specializing in apartments for the last 30+ years. In the last four years he sold in excess of $2 billion in Colorado apartment properties. Prior to starting Apartment Realty Advisors in 2002, Jeff, with his partner Doug Andrews, was the top apartment broker nationally for Grubb & Ellis for three consecutive years. He was selected as Denver’s top commercial real estate broker in 2000 by the Denver Board of Realtors. He has been the #1 multi-housing specialist in Denver the last 10 years and has sold more Colorado apartments than any other broker in Denver’s history. Mr. Hawks closed more than $800 million in transactions in the last 12 months.
Doug Andrews has worked in commercial real estate in Denver and Colorado Springs for 20 years. Doug has been a specialist in apartments and multi-family land since 1991. In the last four years, Doug has closed more than $1 billion in multi-family transactions, representing a list of clients that includes JPI, Equity Residential Properties Trust, AMLI Residential Trust, SSR Realty Advisors, The Carmel Companies, Embrey Partners and The Archon Group. Doug has been a member of the portfolio disposition teams for Balcor/American Express ($600million), Archstone Communities ($650 million), Mitsui Real Estate ($225 million), and Jupiter Realty Corp. ($65.5 million). Doug was honored as the Denver Realtor's Investment Broker of the Year in 2000.
Steve O’Dell is a 25-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, including 15 years as a high-producing broker and 10 years as a commercial brokerage managing director. In the past six years Steve has specialized in the sale of multi-housing land, resulting in the sale of over 6,500 units of development land in the Denver-metro area. Steve has a thorough understanding of land development and entitlement, having also participated as a principal in land development. Mr. O’Dell works with all the active developers that focus on 200 unit and larger projects, such as JPI, Embrey Partners, Carmel Development, AMLI Residential, Morgan Group, Dermot Development and Trammell Crow Residential, to name a few. Steve’s highly focused approach to the land business has delivered consistent top-of-the-market results for our clients.
Terrance Hunt has been involved with income properties for a majority of his life, beginning with personal investments. Mr. Hunt was involved with property management for several years until he joined Grubb & Ellis in 1995 to specialize in the sale of apartment properties. Mr. Hunt was the top producing apartment broker for Grubb & Ellis nationwide in 2002.
Ken's commercial real estate career spans over 35 years and includes both brokerage and brokerage management in multiple locations. He joined the Denver Grubb & Ellis multi-housing team, subsequently Apartment Realty Advisors in 1999, where he specializes in the sale of Colorado Springs properties. His most recent transactions include the 208 unit Village at Westmeadow, the 332 unit Champions at Norwood, the 194 unit Commons at Briargate, the 250 unit Resort at University Park, and the 167 unit Park Terrace apartments in Pueblo. Ken began his real estate career with Coldwell Banker in Sacramento, California. In 1983, Ken relocated to Colorado Springs as manager and principal of the Schuck Commercial Brokerage Company, which became Grubb & Ellis. In 1986, Ken was asked to lead the Grubb & Ellis offices in Ohio which he did for ten years. Prior to his real estate career, Ken was a pilot in the United States Navy and retired as a Captain in the Naval Reserve. He received a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the University of Miami. Ken is also a certified commercial investment member (CCIM) of the Commercial Real Estate Institute and a full member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) serving on the ULI Multi-Family Council.
Shane Ozment joined Apartment Realty Advisors in September 2002 and specializes in the marketing and sale of multifamily properties in the metro Denver market and throughout Colorado. He is involved in all aspects of the marketing process including valuation, client/prospect contact, contract negotiations and closings. Since joining ARA, Shane has sold over $100 million in multifamily assets. He is consistently recognized by the Denver Metropolitan Commercial Association of Realtors as a Heavy Hitter due to yearly sales volume. Shane brings a high level of successful marketing strategies and sales skills to the Denver ARA office.
Carter Sales brings more than 20 years of experience in the real estate industry. Carter has been involved in over $100 million of transactions, including real estate development, commercial lending and brokerage activities. Prior to his association with ARA, Carter worked with Grubb & Ellis, as an associate broker with their multi-housing investment group. Mr. Sales has held a Colorado Real Estate License since 1978 and has been involved in numerous transactions, including apartments, land and housing development projects. He graduated from the University of Denver with a Business Finance Degree.
David Lamson joined Apartment Realty Advisors in December of 2006 and specializes in multifamily sales within the Aurora market. David brings a diverse range of real estate experience to ARA’s Denver office, including previous involvement with a real estate investment company and international property management. Prior to joining ARA, David was responsible for property dispositions for Equity Plus, a Denver investment company specializing in foreclosures.
Kevin McKenna joined Apartment Realty Advisors in July of 2007 as an associate broker focused on the Colorado Springs market. Prior to joining ARA, Kevin held successful brokerage positions with Grubb & Ellis, Marcus & Millichap, and Cushman and Wakefield in Colorado and California. Kevin has sold over 700 units throughout the Front Range with a total consideration in excess of $50 million. In addition to his brokerage background, Kevin has had successful sales positions with Fortune 500 companies including Oracle and AT&T Wireless.
Chris Cowan joined Apartment Realty Advisors in 2004 and specializes in the marketing and sale of multifamily land in the metro Denver area. Since 2006, he has been involved in the sale of land for the development of over 2,000 units with a total consideration in excess of $43 million. Chris is involved in all aspects of the marketing process including valuation, client/prospect contact, contract negotiations and closing. He is also responsible for a comprehensive land database that tracks pertinent information aiding in the entitlement and development process of multifamily land. This database includes market land data, construction pipelines, and municipality fee structures.
Ray White joined Apartment Realty Advisors after working with GMAC Commercial Mortgage. While at GMAC Ray managed the day to day operations of a $400 million lending facility for one of the nation’s largest tax credit syndicators. Since joining Apartment Realty Advisors, Ray has participated in more than $2 billion in Colorado apartment transactions.
Jon Roberts joined Apartment Realty Advisors in 2008 as an Associate Broker working with Doug Andrews and Jeff Hawks. Jon brings 14 years of real estate experience to ARA with over 3 years in multifamily. He was most recently a broker with Mackstaller & Company, where he worked to represent clients in the procurement of income, development and condo conversion properties. Prior to working in commercial real estate, Jon was a captain with the U.S. Army, where he managed the design and construction of U.S. Army medical facilities. Jon is a graduate of the University of Denver's MRECM program.
Mike Murray brings over 8 years of experience in Project Management and Development experience to ARA, focusing the last 4 years solely on multifamily and for sale underwriting, entitlements and project financing. Prior to working in Real Estate, Mike earned an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the University of Colorado – Denver, worked as an Investment Analyst for a Japanese hedge fund and as a Systems Engineer developing a nationwide fiber optic network. Mike is also an active member of the ULI’s Young Leaders Group and CU’s Bard Center for Entrepreneurship.
Jason Wine joined Apartment Realty Advisors as Associate Broker to work with Terrance Hunt and Shane Ozment. Jason has extensive experience in Multi Family investments having spent 10 years as a Private Investor and Property Manager. In this capacity he oversaw the acquisition and management of 4 apartment buildings in Denver, Colorado totaling 209 units. He has also worked as principal in residential development and condo conversion projects. Jason Graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and earned a Master's degree from the University of Denver's Real Estate and Construction Management program.
