John is principal and managing broker of Atlanta-based Apartment Realty Advisors, Inc. (ARA) and has been highly successful in commercial real estate within the Atlanta marketplace for over eighteen years. John has achieved recognition for his years of experience in the marketing, brokerage and advisory services of multi-housing communities throughout the southeastern United States. His extraordinary record of success in investment sales dates back to 1989, with overall sales transactions exceeding $3 billion and more than 60,000 units brokered in the Atlanta market. Among his achievements, Mr. Weber has been selected every year since 1993 as a Top Twenty Producer in the Greater Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtor's Million Dollar Club and has been a Top Ten Producer consistently over the last ten years.

Prior to joining Apartment Realty Advisors, John was Vice President of Julian LeCraw & Company from 1991 to 1994, and was responsible for acquisitions and third party brokerage. Before his tenure with LeCraw, John served as a controller with the Portman companies from 1982 to 1989.

John is an active member in the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS and volunteers on several of its committees. He is also a member of the Urban Land Institute, Atlanta Apartment Association, Buckhead Business Association and the National Multi Housing Council. John has been active in coaching basketball, baseball and football with the Northside Youth Organization since 1987. He also served as president of the Northside Athlete’s Foundation and continues to serve on its board.
 
 

Derrick N. Bloom
Atlanta, Georgia

  

Derrick N. Bloom, CPA, is a native of Georgia and a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Masters Degree of Accountancy (tax law). Prior to joining ARA in 1998, Bloom served as a Real Estate Consultant with Deloitte & Touche, LLP. In this role specifically, he gained extensive experience structuring transactions involving large commercial properties and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). From 1994 to 1996, he worked within the tax consulting division of the Atlanta office of Arthur Anderson LLP, where he specialized in creative tax solutions for joint ventures. Overall, Mr. Bloom has over 6 ½ years of Real Estate Consulting experience.

Currently, Mr. Bloom is a partner in Atlanta-based Apartment Realty Advisors, Inc. Since joining ARA in 1998, Derrick has gained exclusive experience in multi-family apartment marketing, brokerage and advisory services; therefore, completing overall sales transactions exceeding $4.0 billion with more than 61,000 units brokered in the Southeast market. As well, Derrick has brokered numerous equity placement transactions to developers, through both new product and rehab opportunities.

Since 1989 Mr. Bloom has been serving as a volunteer in several youth programs in Atlanta including HOPE for Kids and HOPE Worldwide. Mr. Bloom is also an active member of the North River Church of Christ, and enjoys basketball, football and golf as well as other outdoor activities.
 
 

William H. Shippen
Atlanta, Georgia

  

A native of Atlanta, Bill Shippen has been with the Apartment Realty Advisors’ brokerage team since 1999. Bill’s focus is on properties that are 20 or more years old as well as properties that require repositioning, re-tenancy and redevelopment. Therefore, Bill works primarily with private and regional investors. Overall, during his tenure with Apartment Realty Advisors, Bill has closed more than 200 transactions.

Prior to joining ARA, Mr. Shippen headed up the analytical department of the local investment brokerage firm of Bullock, Terrell & Mannelly. In this capacity, he oversaw the financial and market analysis of over eighty commercial transactions totaling more than one billion dollars. This experience has given Mr. Shippen a broad knowledge of the Atlanta and Southeastern real estate markets.

After receiving a BA from the University of Georgia, Mr. Shippen moved to Asia and worked as a language instructor. On his return, he earned an MS in Real Estate from Georgia State University and is a former President of the Real Estate Alumni Club, which is the largest of its kind in the country.
 
 

Sean P. Henry
Atlanta, Georgia

  

Sean has a strong record of accomplishment in the commercial real estate industry dating back to 1990. His success includes closing over $3.5 Billion in multifamily transactions with many of the top public and private pension plans, REITS, private capital and co-mingled discretionary funds. Sean’s record also includes 10 years of experience on the principal side of the business as an acquisitions officer for pension fund advisory firms where he was responsible for the closing of $1.5 Billion in transactions.

Prior to joining ARA, Sean was a Principal on the capital transactions team at Lend Lease Real Estate Investments in Atlanta. In this capacity he headed up the south region multifamily transactions team and had responsibility for all multifamily acquisitions in the southern 14 states. Prior to joining Lend Lease in 2000, Sean was a Vice President of acquisitions at General Investment and Development Company in Boston. Sean is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he earned a BBA in Finance with an emphasis in Real Estate. Sean has served on the Board of Directors of the National Multi Housing Council, is continually recognized as a top performing broker by the Greater Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors, has published several multifamily trade articles and is frequently requested to speak as an expert in the multifamily industry.
 
 

Richard C. Bell
Atlanta, Georgia

  

Richard C. Bell started with Apartment Realty Advisors as an analyst in 1994. After branching off with Southeast Capital Partners, one of Atlanta’s leading development firms, Richard returned to ARA in 2006. As a Partner with SECP, Richard helped develop over $200 million in multi-family assets. Responsible for marketing, Richard was fundamental in strategically positioning product types to match market demands and fluctuations. His cradle-to-grave product type experience includes: historical renovation, adaptive reuse, mixed-use, mid-rise, high-rise, stick-frame construction, and land development. Later, Richard also served as Vice President of Business Development for Coldwell Banker The Condo Store. During his time there, sales exceeded $1 billion annually and he assisted in successfully expanding operations in growing Florida markets.

Richard has both a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Masters in Business Administration, from Georgia State University. While an undergraduate, Richard served in the United States Marine Corp Reserves. This dedication to discipline and learning has been maintained throughout 12 years of real estate development and brokerage experience. Richard has quantitatively analyzed varying markets and product types. His research has been published and referenced in periodicals throughout the southeast. With this emphasis on market knowledge and his development experience, Richard has fit naturally back in his ARA family brokering adaptive reuse and land assets.
 
 

Vincent C. Lefler
Atlanta, Georgia

  

Vince Lefler, a native of Georgia, joined Apartment Realty Advisors in February, 2006. Vince was brought on specifically to focus on markets in Tennessee and Alabama, as well as secondary markets in GA. Vince has helped successfully market and close transactions in Augusta, Savannah, Birmingham, Nashville and Memphis.

Prior to joining ARA, Vince worked with IBM for 6 years. As a Senior Software Representative and Consultant, he traveled extensively throughout the Southeast, and developed contacts and gained local knowledge in Nashville and Memphis. Vince excelled in his role at IBM in developing relationships and matching clients with the right solutions. Vince received various awards and recognitions, including Top Software Representative in the Southeast, Leadership and Top Contributor.

Vince earned his B.S. from Mercer University in Macon. He has been active in volunteer work since 1992 with organizations including HOPE for Children, HOPE Worldwide, and United Way. He enjoys golf, tennis, and coaching his sons’ sports teams.
 
 

Dan R. Phelan
Atlanta, Georgia

  

Dan R. Phelan joined Apartment Realty Advisors in 2004 and is responsible for all phases of underwriting, analysis, pricing strategies, and valuation of multifamily and condominium conversion product. Previously with Love Funding of Atlanta and Ocwen Financial of West Palm Beach, Mr. Phelan has over 10 years of commercial real estate experience including asset management advisory for multifamily, hospitality, retail mall and office building portfolios involving complex ARGUS financial software modeling.

In addition, he has underwritten over $700 million in financing for acquisition, construction, and development of multifamily properties, as well as permanent, mezzanine, and equity arrangements. While at Ocwen Financial, Mr. Phelan was responsible for real estate portfolio analytics, loan resolution and workout strategies, as well as various projects including consulting to the Ministry of Finance of Jamaica for the disposition of over $1 billion of asset-backed securities in 2000-2001.
